Scholarships

Scholarships at HBIU are awarded for a variety of reasons including academic achievement, financial need, campus and community involvement, and leadership experience,

and generally do not need to be repaid. Scholarship applications are due one month before the new semester and the scholarship will be awarded to recipients five days before the semester. Deadlines will be posted and advertised on our website or sent by email at the appropriate time. Students will be considered for all available scholarships in the category they apply to, not all scholarships are offered every semester. Applicants will be selected based on qualifications.

Scholarships and Internship

To receive a scholarship with our university students are required to teach for the school for two years on a volunteer basis 

Black Excellence Scholarship

Through the Black Excellence Scholarship, most of the student's tuition is covered. We believe that everyone deserves an opportunity to excell.

Youth Empowerment

HBIU to award youth aged 16 - 30 an opportunity to study with the university, in the areas of technology, business administration, counseling etc. Please check our website for application

6. Edit and proofread: Ensure error-free applications and essays.

7. Follow instructions: Adhere to application guidelines and submission requirements.

8. Apply to multiple scholarships: Increase chances of winning by applying to several. 9. Be persistent: Don't get discouraged by rejections; keep applying.

10. Seek help: Consult with guidance counselors, mentors, or scholarship advisors for support. Additionally: - Keep track of deadlines and requirements using a spreadsheet or planner. - Use online resources like scholarship search engines and databases. - Network with previous winners or scholarship committee members for insights. - Showcase your passion, goals, and unique story in essays and applications. - Be authentic and genuine in your applications. Remember, winning scholarships takes time and effort, but with persistence and guidance, you can increase your chances of success.

Scholarships Requirements

1. Academic performance: Minimum GPA or academic achievement

2. Enrollment: Full-time or part-time enrollment in a specific program or institution

3. Major or field of study: Specific field or major, such as STEM or arts 4. Citizenship or residency: U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or international student status

5. Financial need: Demonstrated financial need or income limits 6. Essays or applications: Submission of essays, transcripts, or applications

7. Letters of recommendation: Letters from teachers, mentors, or supervisors

8. Standardized tests: Scores from SAT, ACT, GRE, or other tests

9. Community service: Hours or experience in community service or volunteer work
